The Return of Dionysus
Conducted by SAVVAS STROUMPOS
23th / 28th November 2025
From Sunday to Friday – h 10 -2.45 PM
“The process of rehearsal in Attis Theatre is not the performance of a
dramatic concept; it is an adventure on a journey to the landscape of
memory, a search for the lost keys of unity between body and speech, the
word as a natural unity”.
Heiner Müller, Berlin, 1987
The workshop is an introduction to the renowned and influential method of Theordoros Terzopoulos “The Return of Dionysus”, which is being taught in Drama Schools and Academies and has inspired performers all over the world. The participants as a group will go through an intense psychophysical sequence of corporal and vocal exercises based on diaphragmatic breathing. Through the special corporal and vocal training of the method, they will work extensively on the cultivation of:
- diaphragmatic breathing
- psychophysical stamina
- bodymind’s activated softness
- psychopysical activation and concentration
- the natural sound
- sound resonators
They will also work on a text of ancient Greek tragedy, so as to experience the dynamic connection between body – and – voice.
The workshop will be in English.
A certificate of participation will be issued at the end of the workshop.
